Dr. Darren Tan founded MORE Solutions in response to challenges he experienced firsthand while managing complex industrial facilities and large-scale built environments.
With a background in Mechanical Engineering, Darren developed a strong technical foundation in building systems, HVAC, energy management, equipment reliability and industrial operations. Over more than 20 years, he has combined this engineering knowledge with practical experience in facilities management, smart-building transformation and business leadership.
Before founding MORE Solutions, Darren served as Associate Director of Facilities at Marina Bay Sands, where he led complex facilities operations, reliability improvement, energy management and building-system transformation. His experience spans more than 8,000 maintainable assets, major OPEX and CAPEX portfolios, reliability-centred maintenance, condition-based strategies, energy optimisation and enterprise-scale building management systems.
This combination of mechanical engineering expertise, industrial-process experience and deep built-environment domain knowledge allows Darren to understand how individual assets operate, how building systems interact and how technical performance affects operations, customer experience, cost and business outcomes.
Throughout his career, Darren observed that many operational problems were not caused by a complete lack of technology, data or effort.
Instead, they often resulted from disconnected systems, fragmented responsibilities, inconsistent processes, gaps in knowledge and competency, and the absence of a structured way to turn operational insights into action.

These challenges become significantly more pronounced when he was managing large-scale, operationally critical infrastructure.

Darren believes open-protocol platforms are fundamental to data-centric operations.
They allow building owners to connect systems from different manufacturers, retain control of their operational data and develop new capabilities without being constrained by a single vendor.
However, an open platform and accessible data are only the foundation. Technology cannot independently determine the operational meaning of every data point or ensure that an insight is acted upon.
Its full value is realized when open data is combined with engineering knowledge, operational experience, structured strategies and disciplined execution.

These experiences led Darren to develop the M.O.R.E.® Framework—a structured approach to transforming facilities management into a performance-driven operating system.
Darren’s vision is to expand the adoption of the M.O.R.E.® Framework across the built environment—combining mechanical engineering fundamentals, deep domain knowledge, open-protocol platforms and data-centric operations with structured execution.
Through MORE Solutions, he aims to help building owners, operators and service providers turn operational data into meaningful insights, insights into action and action into measurable performance.
